U.S. Apache helicopters wants to sell Indonesia



United States announced Thursday that Indonesia plans to sell eight Apache helicopters, a sign of strengthening ties between the two countries, according to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.


Hillary Clinton 'informed Congress about the potential sale of eight AH-64D Apache Longbow helicopters to the Indonesian government "after a meeting with Foreign Minister of this country, Marty Natalegawa.

"This agreement will strengthen our partnership and will contribute to improving security in the region," she said.

The Obama administration is working to strengthen its ties in the Asia-Pacific, where they try to counter Chinese influence.



Hillary Clinton traveled to Jakarta in early.

U.S. Secretary of State did not disclose transaction data on these helicopters built by Boeing. However, it stated that trade between the two countries exceeded 26 billion dollars last year.

United States and Indonesia have built "solid foundations" she said. "One of our main concerns is to promote peace and stability in the Asia-Pacific region," she said, alluding to tensions in the South China Sea.
